BCP Fluted Packaging Ltd may have been around for over 75 years but when it comes to IT systems they are leading the way with innovative solutions that will take them well into the future.

Focusing on the material management sides of the business they have recently implemented ATMS's Warehouse Management System Stocktrack plus for an integrated solution with their current production system from Shuttleworth Business Systems.

The company supply a range of flute profiles that are both practical and decorative for use in a variety of industries including cosmetics, food on the go, confectionery, hot beverage and promotional packaging with customers ranging from Estee Lauder to McDonalds, Thorntons to Costa Coffee. In addition to manufacturing highly creative products, BCP pride themselves on offering excellent customer service and the introduction of ATMS' Stock Track PLUS (STP) warehouse management system will enable them to have complete and accurate visibility of all available stock from the moment it comes off the production line.

Bryan Aplin, Shuttleworth Business Systems User Development Manager, commented 'the introduction of STP will enable BCP to improve their efficiency and keep ahead of the game. By automating their warehouse operation BCP can guarantee a smooth flow of information every step of the way from locating stock through to picking and final despatch.'

STP uses the latest radio technology for real time updates and eliminates the problems associated with a slow and laborious paper chain. Using the global barcode standard GS1-128 means that tracking and traceability can be extended throughout the supply chain. In addition to updating the Shuttleworth system STP also opens the way for sharing information with BCP's key customers and suppliers using the ATMS DataHub solution.

The system went live early in 2009 and was fully interfaced to the Shuttleworth Business System providing it with timely information regarding the receipt, picking and despatch status of all finished goods stock. The next phase for the BCP will be to extend the system to control raw material stock and issues to production providing full traceability throughout the entire process.
