Iggesund Paperboard - Bridging the gap
Warehouse management systems specialist, ATMS, has supplied Iggesund Paperboard with a radio data terminal (RDT) system and wireless infrastructure to enable real time tracking and recording of stock movements, from production through to despatch via their third party distributors. The new hardware interfaces directly with Iggesund's existing business software system.
Iggesund, which is part of the Swedish Holmen Group, produces packing board for the food packaging, graphics and tobacco industries at its Workington mill. The company had previously been using batch data terminals acquired from Birmingham based ATMS back in 1991. These have given great service, but Iggesund recognised the need to increase storage and loading efficiency by switching to more advanced equipment which also has the potential to provide additional functions such as automatic bin spotting and dispatching of oddment stock.
We have been delighted with the support provided by ATMS over the years and had no hesitation in returning to them to supply the new system, said Iggesund Project Manager, Ian Johnston. As part of the contract, we have also purchased barcode verification equipment which enables us to control the quality of the barcode labels we produce for our customers.
